Anthony Spell, 53, of Bronx N.Y. was arrested and charged with prescription fraud, criminal attempt to possess a controlled substance and forgery on August 25.
Police said they were called to CVS, 1239 E. Putnam Avenue, on a report of an individual trying to pass a forged prescription at about 3:43 p.m.
On arrival, police determined that Spell was trying to pass a forged prescription for the painkiller oxycodone.
Mr. Spell was held on a $5,000 bond and is to be arraigned at a later date.
