Tim Gaglio and Mark Mazzotta The Owners Of Pomodoro Pizzeria & Trattoria on East Putnam Avenue in Riverside Face Felony Charges In New York

Two Riverside restaurant owners face felony charges after being accused Friday of failing to pay New York state sales taxes.

Antipasti, an Italian restaurant and wine bar at 1 N. Broadway, was charged with one count of second-degree grand larceny, a felony.

The charges were the result of joint investigations by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and the state Department of Taxation and Finance.

Citi Center Café Inc., doing business as Antipasti, was accused of collecting and then failing to report sales-tax receipts in excess of $56,000 between Nov. 1, 2007, and Nov. 1, 2008.

The owners, Tim Gaglio and Mark Mazzotta, also own Amore Pizzeria and Pasta with locations on Broadway in Thornwood and Main Street in Armonk.

Tim Gaglio and Mark Mazzotta also own Pomodoro Pizzeria & Trattoria on East Putnam Avenue in Riverside.

Gaglio and Mazzotta could not be reached for comment.

Restaurants in New York are licensed to act as sales-tax agents and are required to remit those payments to the Department of Taxation on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis based on volume.

Antipasti's felony court date is pending.

It is unclear if Tim Gaglio and Mark Mazzotta are current on Town of Greenwich or State Of Conneticut tax payments.

Rick Torres Opens Bridgeport Headquarters For Fourth District Congressional Campaign

Rick Torres, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress, has opened a campaign headquarters at 2986 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport.

Torres, joined by supporters at the official opening, said the headquarters marks the beginning of a new stage for his campaign.

"The opening of this office demonstrates how serious I am about beating Jim Himes in November,” said Torres, who lives in Black Rock and owns the Harborview Market in the neighborhood.

“Bridgeport will be the battleground this election just as it has always been, and I am the only Republican candidate who is a native of Bridgeport with a natural base of support here,” he said.

Another Republican candidate in the race, former state Sen. Rob Russo, also lives in Bridgeport. There are six GOP candidates hoping to challenge freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Himes in the fall.

Torres is a former city Republican Town Committee chairman who was the party’s unsuccessful nominee for mayor in 2003.
